sci-fi container with glow
A detailed 3D prop design of a futuristic power cell or sci-fi container. This project was an exploration of complex mechanical shapes, greeble detailing, and the contrast between rigid metallic structures and soft, pressurized internal components.
I focused on creating a believable functional aesthetic, using emissive materials to highlight the core energy source and adding subtle surface wear to ground the object in a realistic environment.
Technical Highlights:
Modeling: Created in Blender using a modular hard-surface workflow. The top and bottom sections feature intricate paneling and greeble to enhance the scale and complexity.
Texturing: PBR workflow in Substance 3D Painter. I combined clean painted metals with weathered edges and realistic fabric/padding shaders for the central core.
Lighting & VFX: Cycles render with a focus on internal emissive lighting. Used Bloom and soft volumetric hints to emphasize the "active" state of the power cell.
Shading: Custom shaders for the glowing panels and micro-scratches on the yellow protective casing.
